Cindy Morgan Honored At Dove Awards

Cindy Morgan, who calls Eagleville Home with her husband Sigmund Brouwer and daughters Olivia and Savannah was honored on Wednesday April 27th at the Gospel Music Association Dove Awards.

She received an award for Country Song of the Year for the song "How you Live" as recorded by Point of Grace. Later in the evening she was honored as Songwriter of the Year. A songwriter’s songwriter, Morgan has garnered eighteen number one hits that include ‘Listen’, ‘Praise the King’, ‘Take my life’, and ‘I Know You’; as well as Point of Grace’s recent hit ‘How You Live’. Morgan received several Dove Awards and Billboard Music Video Award nominations. Her songs have been recorded by luminaries such as Michael W. Smith, Point Of Grace, Avalon, Rachael Lampa, Brit Nicole, Mandisa, The Martins, Michael English, BeBe Winans, Sandi Patty, Jaci Velasquez, Mark Schultz, John Tesh, and Natalie Grant.

Cindy has a long history in music and has spent time in Los Angeles before moving back to the Middle Tennessee area. Cindy Morgan’s latest project ‘Beautiful Bird’ is her first official venture into producing her own record. "I have produced my own demos for years and spent the better part of my adult life in a studio, but until now haven’t felt completely ready for such a task. I have been very fortunate to work with so many great producers over the years. The last couple of years, there has been a little voice in my head telling me to step out and stand on my own two creative feet. So that is what I decided to do. I am heading up the production of this record, but certainly not without a lot of help on the technical side of things with my engineer and co-producer Stephen Leiweke." (Jars Of Clay, Margaret Becker, Kids In The Way) "My weaknesses are Stephen’s strengths. Among other things he is so good about allowing me take all the time I need to explore an idea and figure out how to get it onto tape."

The outcome is an album that represents the multiple facets of Cindy’s life as a wife, mother, and storyteller. "One of the greatest things in my life is being a mother to my two girls, Olivia and Savannah. I love seeing the world through their eyes; they teach me so much everyday and, of course, they inspire me.

She and her family split their time between Eagleville which they are glad to call home and their other home in Canada where they are surrounded by Sigmund’s family. Since moving to the Eagleville area, the family have been active in Eagleville United Methodist Church, attending Sunday School and Worship as their busy schedule allows. Sigmund is a published author who enjoys a game of golf. He also spends considerable time above the Artic Circle, visiting the isolated families there in a literacy ministry. Cindy demonstrates a strong commitment to a life of faith, studying God’s word and allowing God to lead her life. Her website and blog offer devotionals and testimonies of her faith walk and encourage those who visit the sites. She is committed to her career as a ministry that illuminates the truth of God’s love for all the people of the world.

Congrats to Cindy on her awards. We are glad to have her, Sigmund and the girls as part of our community.
