Big Crowds Gather For Festival With Small Town Feel BY MELISSA BUCHANAN Saturday, June 13, 2009 Crowds filled the streets of downtown Eagleville for Saturday’s Main Street Festival, as guests strolled in and out of the booths that lined the roadsides, or visited local restaurants and businesses. Many local residents hosted their own yard or estate sale during the festival as well, giving the event’s nearly 2,000 guests additional shopping opportunities within the local community. In addition to Main Street Festival activities, was this year’s 4th Annual Park N’ Show; which hosted 86 entries this year, with proceeds from the event and Lemonade Stand benefiting the Eagleville City Park. Taking home "Best in Show" for the 2nd year in a row was a Model A Ford, owned by Sam Pratt of Franklin, TN. "We have a 400 point scoring system for each entry and Sam received a score of 395," said Vice-Mayor Ronnie Hill; who also serves as one of the main organizers for the Park N’ Show. During her 90-day sentence, Bennett received counseling from Rev. Fred Donaldson, who was first to testify on Bennett’s behalf. Rev. Donaldson required "real repentance and response based on scriptures" as he described the 8 step process Bennett had not yet completed during the last 3 months of counseling sessions he held with her; with only a letter of apology and restitution remaining. During her time in detention, defense attorney Terry Fann explained that Bennett had spent her 15-year wedding anniversary away from husband, Mike Bennett who also took the stand and testified on his wife’s behalf. "She’s been broken," said spouse Mike Bennett. "I don’t believe that she would actually want to put the family through that again." While in detention, Bennett worked in the kitchen, where she achieved Trustee status, ...read more....
